Pediatric Pathology

One of the sub-specialties of surgical pathology that is mainly associated with diagnosis and the classification of neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases usually observed in children. The main roles and duties of pediatric pathologists can be broadly divided into two categories: the examination of tissue samples, and the performing autopsies and placental examinations. Although most of the conditions that affect adults also affect children, pediatric pathology includes many conditions that are found affecting the patients younger than 18 years of age.
